Application for Admission

Welcome students and families interested in the International Baccalaureate program at Oakwood Middle School!

Thank you for your interest in the IB Programme at Oakwood Middle School.  The application window has closed. It will re-open in January 2025.   If you have any questions, please email Sarah Pittman, Oakwood Middle School IB Coordinator at sarah_pittman@iss.k12.nc.us.

February 7, 2024 - next in the process:

Families of students who have applied for the 24-25 school year:

Thank you for submitting your applications! We are currently in process of pulling out the students who have met the exclusion parameters, and the digital lottery will be taking place this week. We hope to mail all decision letters by February 16th. If your student is invited to Oakwood for the 24-25 school year, families are required to attend a family commitment meeting in order to proceed forward with enrollment.

Family commitment meetings will be offered at 4 different times. Students do not need to attend. You can choose the time that fits your schedule the best, but these are the ONLY times available. We strongly recommend you plan accordingly. Family commitment meetings will be on February 26th at 9:30am or 5:30pm and on February 29th at 1:30 or 5:30pm. This is all communicated in your invitation letter.

For students that are not invited to Oakwood due to the lottery, they will be placed on a wait list (in random order using the lottery software). Only students who apply in January are eligible for the wait list. No late applications are accepted. After the parent commitment meetings, if we have open seats, we will communicate directly with families on the wait list, and they, too, will be required to attend a parent commitment meeting to confirm their seat. These details will be communicated later via letter.

If you were unable to attend the Open Parent Informational Night, here is the presentation that was given:
